To the Editor: Now, more than ever before, the subject of mental illness and its treatment has entered the public conversation.  Sports radio call-in shows feature advertisements for online therapy, and great athletes, actors and entertainers speak with regularity about their struggles. Still, there are many who suffer alone when help is available. The stigma confronting those who encounter this form of affliction is real and persistent. more
To the Editor: In 2023, the MTA Metro-North followed the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) and not the federal National Environmental Protection Act for three Bronx station capital improvement projects.  This was highlighted in the N.Y. Daily News Oct. 26 and Oct. 27 Public Notice for the Metro-North ADA Improvements. more
(Re: “Jackson owes Singh an apology,” Nov. 3) To the Editor: I am frankly befuddled and perplexed by Betsey Knapp’s demand that I apologize to Ramdat Singh for my Oct. 18 letter to the editor. In that letter, I commended Mr. Singh for condemning Hamas’ attack on Israeli civilians, while lamenting his apparent unwillingness to speak out against the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), who have blamed Israel for the attacks, calling them a “direct result of Israel’s apartheid regime.” more
(Re: “End trauma and war violence,” Oct. 26) To the Editor: Stuart Chen-Hayes is gravely mistaken when he states in his letter that “The USA and Israel were both formed by the racist dispossession of indigenous people from their land.” more
To the Editor: I am writing to express my frustration and disappointment at the New York Jewish community’s relative silence on the current situation in Israel. The identitarian left is out in our streets, our college campuses and in the media calling for an end to a war started by the monsters of Hamas and we sit here, in the comfort of our homes, too frightened to stand in opposition to them. more
To the Editor: Last week’s letter by a member of Jewish Voice for Peace defending its response to the Oct. 7 massacre of some 1,400 Israelis should not go unanswered — especially the writer’s claim that the organization “has never said it supports Hamas.” more
To the Editor: If terror were rain, there would be a deluge in Gaza. If death were a rockfall, there would be an avalanche in Gaza. If injustice, if crimes against humanity, if genocide were the wind, there would be a hurricane in Gaza. more
To the Editor: Our values come from our environment. Parents are designed to provide our primary environment and extended family provides further environmental influence. more
(Re: “Pro-Palestine supporters: ‘Torres supports genocide,’” Oct. 26.) To the Editor: Many thanks to Rep. Ritchie Torres for his courageous support of Israel in the aftermath of horrific terror attacks as well as ongoing threats.  I regret that he has to endure absurd vilification by pro-terror Jew-haters such as those who picketed his office on Oct. 24.   more
(Re: Thanks to electeds backing, Oct. 18) To the editor: In his letter to the editor in last week’s Riverdale Press, local attorney and Jeff Dinowitz right-hand man Benjamin F. Jackson smears founding members of the Unity Democratic Club for allegedly not condemning a certain anti-Israel organization. more
