Baseball event
Riverdale Senior Services, located at 2600 Netherland Ave., is hosting The Homerun Project, at 1:30 p.m.
The program is aimed at engendering good character and improving literacy among children, as well as helping them to think critically. The lessons are taught through an examination of true stories in the books The MacMillan Book of Baseball Stories and The Good Guys of Baseball, which was coauthored by project director and former Riverdale resident Stan Friedman.
The fifth-grade class at the Kinneret Day School and adults from the senior center are teaming up to offer the program, which is open to participants of all ages.
