Happy haunting
Wave Hill, located at West 249th Street and Independence Avenue, will host a spoken/ written word event, from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
Session two of “Reading Between the Lines,” will meet on the grounds, in the Perkins Visitor Center.
This session concentrates on Judith Richardson’s Possessions: The History and Uses of Haunting in the Hudson River Valley, and how the idea of hauntings helps create social memory and a sense of place.
The program is made possible by the New York Council for the Humanities and is free with paid admission to the grounds. Books for this session are available from the Perkins Visitor Center.
Sessions will also be held Sunday, Nov. 22 and Sunday, Dec. 6.
The group is limited to 15. Registrations are required and can be made online or by calling 718-549-3200 ext. 305.
Sustainability talk
The Riverdale-Yonkers Society for Ethical Culture, located at 4450 Fieldston Road, will host a presentation by Bart Wordern entitled “Sustainable Living and Ethical Culture,” at 11 a.m.
Mr. Wordern is the current leader of the Ethical Culture Society of Westchester. He will discuss a three-pronged approach to sustainable living: raising consciousness, challenging the status quo and promoting remediation actions.

Family art
Wave Hill, located at West 249th Street and Independence Avenue, presents a family art project, “Dances With Leaves/ Baile con las hojas del otoño,” from 1 to 4 p.m.
The group, which will meet in The Sally and Gilbert Kerlin Learning Center, will fashion a festive crown or costume from fall leaves and leaf rubbings, toss leaves in the wind, jump and run through piles.
Participants will make artful arrangements of leaves on the lawn and collage leaf designs to carry home.
The program is free with paid admission to the grounds.

Blood drive
St. Margaret of Cortona Church, located at 452 W. 260th St., will hold a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the school gym.
Those who wish to give blood should bring picture identification and their social security number. Walk-ins are welcome.

Meet the artists

John Morton and Jacqueline Shatz will discuss “The Voyage Out,” their installation in the Sunroom Project Space.
