Concourse future

The Bronx Museum of the Arts, 1040 Grand Concourse, at 165th Street, concludes a yearlong, three-part centennial celebration of the Grand Concourse, with last week’s unveiling of the final part in its series examining the past, present and future of the historic thoroughfare.

The third exhibit in the sequence, titled “Intersections: The Grand Concourse Beyond 100,” features models, drawings, architectural renderings, plans, photographs, texts, and artworks that together illustrate seven different compelling visions for the future of the Grand Concourse. Chosen from a group of almost 400 entrants into an international contest launched earlier this year, these seven finalists present their competing ideas for how the Bronx and the Grand Concourse can evolve in the next few decades in order to cope with pressing needs for housing, green spaces and improved transportation.

This showcase is currently open to the public through Sunday, January 3, 2010.
