THE MANHATTAN College Fashion Student Association will present “Sugar & Spice,” a special public fashion show, on Friday, April 3, at 7 p.m., in Smith Auditorium. This event, which will help raise money to benefit the American Cancer Society, features student designers and models joining together for a fashion extravaganza. Ticket sales are currently underway and seats cost $5 per person. Manhattan College is located at West 242nd Street, just off Broadway. THE SPUYTEN Duyvil Library, located at 650 W. 235th St., presents “Knitting and Crochet,” a special program for adults, on Monday, March 30, at 11 a.m. Local knitters and crocheters of all skill levels are invited to get together and work on a current project, explore new techniques or just learn the basics of either craft. Materials are not provided so participants should bring their own yarn and needles from home. This event is open to the public and registration is not required. STEW LEONARD’S in Yonkers, located at 1 Stew Leonard Drive, will continue its special fourpart wine education seminar series, on Friday, March 27, from 7 to 9 p.m. During each two-hour seminar, attendees will learn about specific wine topics from a Stew Leonard’s certified wine specialist and taste multiple selections paired with international cheeses and charcuterie. For this second session, titled “New World vs. Old World,” visitors will learn the characteristic differences between Old World wines from the cooler climates of Europe and the warmer climates of younger regions, such as the United States, Australia and South America. California Cabernet, Syrah and Chardonnay will be tasted and compared to their European counterparts. Tickets for each wine class cost $40 per person, with a 10-percent discount available when two or more tickets are purchased. Space is limited to 30 participants for each class, so reservations should be made in advance at the store or over the phone via credit card. The next meeting will take place on Friday, April 24.
