Music class

Riverdale Temple’s Adult Education program will hold a class led by Herb Greenhut on “Popular Song and American History” starting at 7:30 p.m.

Classes will be held on four consecutive Wednesdays at the Temple, 4545 Independence Ave., from 7:30 to 9 p.m. This first class will examine “Music in the Time of War.” Mr. Greenhut will compare songs from the Civil War and World War II.

Future classes will cover popular and folk “Songs of the Great Depression;” “Songs of Identity,” and “Songs of New York.”

The class is free and open to the public.

Wine tasting

Wave Hill, located at West 249th Street and Independence Avenue, will give a free tasting of wine from Seneca Lake in the Finger Lakes region of New York during dinner.

The grounds are open until 8:30 p.m., and the Wave Hill Café closes at 8 p.m.

Wine tastings and food for sale will be available every Wednesday evening in June and July.

Reservations are available for the supper at sunset on Wave Hill Café’s terrace, and must be made by 5 p.m. the Monday prior.

Gallery tour

Wave Hill, located at West 249th Street and Independence Avenue, will give a tour of the contemporary art on display, at noon in the Glyndor Gallery.

The event is free with admission to the grounds.

There will be another tour on Thursday, June 4.

Sunset scapes

There will be an outdoor class in landscape pastel painting with artist Wennie Huang from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on the grounds of Wave Hill, located at West 249th Street and Independence Avenue.

Participants should meet at the Perkins Visitor Center.

Materials will be provided and all skill levels are welcome.

This will be the first of a foursession class that continues on consecutive Wednesdays, June 10, 17, and 24.

All four sessions together cost $125 for members and $180 for nonmembers. The single-session fee costs $35 for members and $50 for nonmembers.

Registration is required.
