Riverdale artists

The Riverdale Art Association is having a spring exhibit at the Grinton I. Will Library in Yonkers, located at 1 Larkin Center, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Anniversary party

Riverdale Senior Services is celebrating its 35th Anniversary with cocktails, dinner and jazz in The River Room of Harlem, 679 Riverside Drive, from 6 to 9 p.m.

Gloria S. Neuwirth, Esq. and Irving Ladimer, Esq. will be honored at the event.

Ms. Neuwirth is a senior partner at the law firm of Davidson, Dawson & Clark, LLP, specializing in estate planning, administration and taxation. She has been widely published in professional journals and has lectured at various professional and charitable institutions on tax and estate planning issues. Ms. Neuwirth has served on the Board of Directors of Riverdale Senior Services as well as the Board of Directors of the Kidney and Urology Foundation of America, the Associated Blind, and The Bronx Opera Company. She is on a number of professional advisory committees and was named in the 2007 and 2008 New York Magazine survey of the New York Area’s Best Lawyers and in the 2007 and 2008 New York Times Magazine SuperLawyers.

Mr. Ladimer organized the first National Conference on Aging in 1939 and he promoted the founding of the Institute on Aging. He served as information director for the Railroad Retirement Board, the first program for pensions and benefits. Mr. Ladimer is the founder and chair of the Committee on Aging at the Community Board and cofounder of the Interfaith Caregivers of the Northwest Bronx. He is currently a Research Consultant for the Schervier Nursing Care Facility.

Tickets to the event cost $225. There will be a commemorative journal, a luxury raffle and a silent auction.

Artists’ circle

Wave Hill, located at West 249th Street and Independence Avenue, will host an open-air studio session at 10 a.m.

Wave Hill will provide easels, basic supplies and its dramatic landscape, but not media, paper or canvas. Artists will work independently. There will be a facilitated critique at noon.

The fee is $10 for members and $18 for nonmembers. Preregistration is not required; however, the event is limited to 12 participants.

The sessions will continue on Thursdays throughout June, July and August.

Photo class

Wave Hill, located at West 249th Street and Independence Avenue, presents the first class in its Nature Photography Series from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Wave Hill House.

Photographer Benjamin Swett will teach participants what the elements of a successful photograph are, drawing on examples from student work, prepared slides, field exploration and outdoor shooting assignments.

The three-session series costs $70 for members; $90 for nonmembers. Registration is required.

The course continues on consecutive Thursdays, June 12 and 19. A new series begins in July.
