Book signing
Wave Hill, located at West 249th Street and Independence Avenue, will host a book release and signing at 2 p.m.
Editor Randall Bourscheidt and writer and photographer Benjamin Swett present their new book The Hudson Valley: A Cultural Guide, in the Wave Hill House.
The guide covers places of contemporary cultural interest from New York City to the Adirondacks and was produced by the Alliance for the Arts in honor of the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson’s voyage up the river.
There will be a slide presentation and a discussion followed by a book signing in the Shop at Wave Hill.
The event is free with admission to the grounds.

Musical guest
Folk singer/songwriter Rod MacDonald will perform at the Riverdale-Yonkers Society for Ethical Culture Meeting House, 4450 Fieldston Road, at 5 p.m.
Mr. MacDonald, whose 30- year career has taken him from Greenwich Village to venues the world over to perform ballads and folk songs, will perform in the The Uptown Coffeehouse.
Admission costs $15. Bronx Cultural Cards are accepted.

Velvet Ross
The Bronx Council on the Arts and Christ Church Riverdale will present vocalist Velvet Ross for a concert at the church, 5030 Henry Hudson Parkway, at 3 p.m.
Ms. Ross is the winner of the 2008 Bronx Recognizes its Own Award for vocal performance and is a singer, actress, awardwinning playwright and activist. She has toured Japan, Spain, Argentina and Chile and has performed in Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, BB Kings, Birdland, CBGB Gallery and Sony Sound Stage. She is an Amateur Night at the Apollo winner and winner of the Miss Black World Pageant New York 2004.

Cuba lecture
Rev. David D. Cockcroft, pastor emeritus of Riverdale Presbyterian Church, will discuss his recent trip to Cuba at the Riverdale-Yonkers Society for Ethical Culture Meeting House, located at 4450 Fieldston Road, at 11 a.m.
Rev. Cockcroft visited Cuba in early February with a group of other retired Presbyterian ministers. The group visited congregations and churches with the Reformed Church of Cuba, which is connected to the Presbyterian Church in the United States.
Rev. Cockcroft served as pastor for Riverdale’s Presbyterian congregation from 1968 to 1994 and is currently retired. He is a Riverdale resident.
The event is free and open to the public.

Knit and crochet
The Spuyten Duyvil Library, located at 650 W. 235th St., will host a knitting and crochet session at 11 a.m.
All skill levels are welcome; yarn and needles are not supplied.
There will be another session on Monday, June 8.
