WAVE HILL, West 249th Street and Independence Avenue, will host a book release and signing program for The Hudson Valley: A Cultural Guide, on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m. in Wave Hill House. Newly produced by the Alliance for the Arts, in honor of the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson’s voyage up the river, this guide focuses on 500 places of contemporary cultural interest, from New York City to the Adirondacks. The afternoon will feature a slide presentation and discussion, to be followed by a book signing — with editor Randall Bourscheidt and writer and photographer Benjamin Swett — in the Wave Hill Shop. This event is free with paid admission to Wave Hill. For more information, call 718-549-3200.

THE BRONX Library Center, located at 310 E. Kingsbridge Road, will host a special Summer Reading Kickoff Celebration for the whole family, on Saturday, June 6, at noon. Visitors will get free gifts and prizes when they sign up for the Summer Reading program, which is open to all ages, from newborns to adults. Local residents can register for Summer Reading or get more details about the program at www.summerreading.org. Admission to the celebration is free and open to the public.
