WAVE HILL, West 249th Street and Independence Avenue, presents “Mr. Mustard and Friends,” a mustard family cooking demonstration, on Friday, June 5, at 1 p.m. During this program, horticultural interpreter Charles Day will share clever and inexpensive ways to grow arugula and mustard greens in containers. In addition, professional chef and garden guide Pam Carey will prepare a zesty early summer salad. Participants should go to the Perkins Visitor Center and ask where on the grounds this demonstration will be held. This event is free with paid admission to Wave Hill. THE SPUYTEN Duyvil Library, located at 650 W. 235th St., presents “Knitting and Crochet,” a special program for adults, on Monday, June 8, at 11 a.m. Local knitters and crocheters of all skill levels are invited to get together and work on a current project, explore new techniques or just learn the basics of either craft. Materials are not provided so participants should bring their own yarn and needles from home. This event is open to the public and registration is not required. STEW LEONARD’S in Yonkers, located at 1 Stew Leonard Drive, will host the final meeting of its special four-part wine education seminar series, on Friday, June 5, from 7 to 9 p.m. During the twohour seminar, attendees will learn about specific wine topics from a Stew Leonard’s certified wine specialist and taste multiple selections paired with international cheeses and charcuterie. For this fourth session, visitors will learn about wines from the various regions of Italy, including the best Chiantis as well as hot and trendy Super-Tuscans. Tickets cost $40 per person, with a 10-percent discount available when two or more tickets are purchased.
