The Bronx Defenders will host its 2009 Community Block Party, today, Thursday, July 2, from noon to 4 p.m., at 160th Street, between Courtlandt and Melrose avenues. This familyfriendly event will include free food, live music and entertainment, as well as plenty of activities for people of all ages.

Visitors will have the opportunity to participate in arts and crafts, play carnival games, watch spoken word performances and compete in relay races or basketball tournaments. There will also be pony rides, a raffle, turntable DJ lessons, face-painting, clowns and balloon animals, complimentary treats and a moon bounce.

In addition, representatives from the Bronx Defenders will provide details on the services they offer, while other community advocacy groups and local organizations will be on-hand to provide medical advice, immigration help, housing information and much more.

Admission is free and open to the public. For more information, call 718-838-7878 or e-mail dawitg@bronxdefenders.org.
