No question, the MTA has to do a better job of maintaining its existing elevators. And it's about time they installed elevators at stops where they're really needed, like West 242nd Street and Broadway. The busy stop has some of the longest runs of stairs in the system. There are plenty of senior citizens and people burdened with luggage who struggle with them every day, not to mention residents with disabilities. Our own Charles Moerdler is on the MTA board. He should raise his inimitable voice and demand an elevator at the end of the line.
