A good deed on Riverdale Avenue

To the editor,

In response to some of the negativity surrounding the recent construction along Broadway, it’s good to know that someone is trying to beautify our little corner of the Bronx — John McKeon of John’s Botany Bay Florist on Riverdale Avenue.

I recently noticed some beautiful fall arrangements of chrysanthemums and decorative grasses placed in the tree wells along Riverdale Avenue between West 236th and 238th streets. I suspected Mr. McKeon was responsible and stopped by the shop. He was indeed responsible and told me he wanted to give back to the community.

So thanks, John. I hope the local merchants appreciate your efforts to spruce up the block and make it look more like Bronxville than the Bronx. I know I do.
