Assault at McDonald's

1. A 20-year-old man was ordering food at McDonalds on 5765 Broadway at 1:03 a.m. on Sunday when police said he recognized a woman he knew. The man and woman exchanged words, but she said she did not know him. When her 27-year-old boyfriend returned, police say he began punching the 20-year-old and hit him with the handle of a dustpan. The 27-year-old was arrested and charged with assault. 

2. Grand larceny auto

Police say a 1998 red Dodge Caravan was stolen at the northeast corner of Hillman and Sedgwick Avenue at 2 p.m. on March 27 after a 36-year-old woman reported it missing when she went to find her vehicle. Police who responded to the scene said the car was not towed. The case is open to police.

3. Money scam

On March 25 at 7 p.m., a 60-year-old woman who lives at 3001 Henry Hudson Parkway was sent a check by someone claiming to be a secret shopper, according to police. The woman was told that she would receive the rest of her rewards as soon as she bought about $2,000 in Green Dot money cards. When she went to deposit the check, her bank told her the check was fraudulent. The case is open to police.

4. Attempted burglary

Police say an unknown person attempted to get into the 3136 Godwin Terrace home of a 41-year-old woman on March 28 at 9:35 p.m. While she was in her bedroom on the phone, the person moved her air conditioner, located in a window facing a fire escape. When the person reached his or her hand in, the woman said she was going to call the police and the person fled. The case is open to police.

5. Menacing

On Saturday at 4:45 a.m., a 63-year-old man was sleeping in his apartment at 2765 Sedgwick Avenue when the owner of the apartment, a 41-year-old man, entered the residence. The two began to have a dispute over outstanding rent payments and the 41-year-old displayed a knife. He was arrested by police.
