Bailey Ave. ATV crash leaves one man dead

A Manhattan man was killed in an all-terrain vehicle crash on Sunday that left another man injured.

According to authorities, at around 5:50 p.m. on Oct. 12, two Yamaha ATVs were traveling northbound on Bailey Avenue when they approached the intersection at West 233rd Street and crashed into each other. 

Police said that Paul Rodriguez, 35, suffered severe head trauma and was transported to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The other driver, 33-year-old Daniel McGivney, of the Bronx, was transported to North Central Bronx Hospital in stable condition with an injury to his right leg, according to police. 

Police could not confirm if the men were racing or speeding at the time of the crash. 

An investigation by NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad is ongoing, but Mr. McGivney was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment and various ATV violations, including reckless driving, driving an unregistered vehicle and driving without insurance.
