The Royals and Blue Jays battled on Tuesday afternoon in the second game of the minor league championship of the Kingsbridge Little League.
The Royals entered the game needing just a win to be crowned champions, while the Blue Jays needed a win to force a deciding game three.
With the score tied at three in the bottom of the fifth, Luis Rivera was hit by a pitch to load the bases for the Blue Jays with one out. A base hit and an error followed, and the Blue Jays took a 5-3 lead heading into the sixth.
Rivera went out to the mound at the top of the inning and was dominant, striking out the side to clinch the victory.
The final game of the series was played on Wednesday, after The Press went to print.
