Numerous members of the faculty at the College of Mount Saint Vincent were recently honored for their excellence in education.

President Charles Flynn Jr., Professor Dr. Joseph Skelly, who also chairs the history department, and Professor Mary Ellen Sullivan, head of the education department, were named in the Irish Voices’ “Top 100 educators of Irish ancestry in the United States.”

This is the second time Mr. Flynn and Mr. Skelly have been named on the list, which pays tribute to Irish educators who have left a mark on institutions in the U.S. and Canada.

Dr. Skelly who teaches a range of topics, including Irish history and politics, international terrorism and the Middle East, called the award “a great honor.”

The National Association for Ethnic Studies honored another professor at the Mount, naming Ron Scapp its interim president. Open to any person or institution, the NAES promotes activities in the field of ethnic studies.
