Congrats to our local leaders

To the Editor:

We congratulate Congressmen Eliot Engel and Charles Rangel, Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz, and state Senators Jeffrey Klein and Gustavo Rivera on their landslide victories. We wish it had been as good for all Democrats running elsewhere in the state and throughout the nation.

This year was hugely successful for the Benjamin Franklin Reform Democratic Club. In the most recent primary and general elections, every candidate endorsed by the club was elected, both locally and statewide. Not only did we work hard to win big locally, but our efforts were felt in other districts as well.

Members of the Benjamin Franklin Reform Democratic Club worked toward the re-election of Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney and the election of Democratic state Senate candidate Justin Wagner, both running in the Hudson Valley. Some of our volunteers went up to the districts to knock on doors; many others came to the Ben Franklin Club to make calls to voters in those districts. Congressman Maloney was re-elected and we are pleased to have been part of that effort.

We are proud of our local officials who won reelection, and while the statewide effort to bring a Democratic majority to the state Senate fell short, we continue to stand with and work with our fellow progressive Democrats.

We invite Democrats in our community to join us at the Ben Franklin Club as we continue to fight for progressive causes and to help elect the best candidates. Join us in 2015 as we discuss and act on important issues, and in 2016 when we will be part of the statewide and nationwide movement to elect a Democratic Senate for New York, and a Democratic President, House and Senate for our country.

The Benjamin Franklin Reform Democratic Club is located at 304 W. 231st St., and can be reached at 718-796-6177.
