Wave Hill, Riverdale’s celebrated public garden and cultural center, has received a total of $236,000 in recent capital grants for improvements.

Wave Hill received a $150,000 capital grant allocated by state Sen. Co-majority Leader Jeff Klein. The funds will go to renovating the Glyndor House, which contains Wave Hill’s galleries, and installing permanent lighting throughout the premises.

“As we look forward to celebrating our 50th anniversary in 2015, this grant will enable us to better serve all our visitors and fulfill our mission of bringing everyone closer to the natural world,” Wave Hill’s President and Executive Director Claudia Bonn said in a statement.

Earlier this year, Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. allocated $84,000 for a new shuttle van and new lighting at Wave Hill. The projects were part of more than $9 million in capital funding from Mr. Diaz’s office.
