Disappointed in Sen. Klein’s allies

To the editor:

Regarding your article entitled, “GOP and IDC may yet form alliance” [published online as "Riverdalians await Klein's next move"]: it was bad enough that Jeff Klein abandoned his party and his electorate for years by joining in a coalition with Republicans and taking three other state Senators with him — thus depriving the Democrats of a majority in the New York State Senate.

It was bad enough that New York State Democrats from Cuomo through Bill de Blasio and down to our local Democratic Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz and Councilman Andrew Cohen welcomed Mr. Klein back to the Democratic Party before the primaries IF he promised to return to the Democratic caucus and form an IDC-Democratic coalition.

Have these so-called Democrats lost all their integrity, and do they really believe what they are saying and expect us to believe it?

They are thoroughly disrespecting our intelligence if they now think we will “buy” a revised version that this “deal” only held if the Democrats needed Mr. Klein to attain a majority in the state Senate and not if the Republicans won an outright majority and they didn’t “need” him.

Maybe they should all be Democrats on Tuesday and Wednesdays if it’s convenient, but not on Thursdays if it’s raining. What logic! What hypocrisy!

As a lifelong Democrat, I now declare that ALL of these Democrats have lost ALL of my future votes until they support a real Democrat for Jeff Klein’s Senate seat in the northwest Bronx. I hope you will join me.
