Getting it wrong on Rosenblatt

Posted

To the editor,

The whole bumbling story of Rabbi Jonathan Rosenblatt and the Riverdale Jewish Center is a cross between the incompetence shown in Jimmy Breslin’s1969 novel “The Gang That Couldn’t Shoot Straight” and any of the adventures of the famous Keystone Kops.

The rabbi comes out far ahead of the synagogue. Indeed, instead of the RJC’s buying out of Rosenblatt’s contract, it would have made much more financial sense for the rabbi to have bought out the entire cash-strapped RJC, which now stands as the laughable shell of a once vibrant congregation.
