1. Police said on June 2, a 27-year-old was arrested for criminal possession of heroin in a building just paces away from the site where five were arrested as part of an alleged ring on May 28.

In a criminal complaint, police from the 46th Precinct said that they observed Luis Mercedes carry a bag into the basement of 3802 Review Place at about 7:05 p.m. At 8:30 p.m., a police raid recovered what was described as the same bag, containing “more than four ounces of heroin.”

Mr. Mercedes was charged with second- and third-degree counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance. He is scheduled to appear in Manhattan Criminal Court on Monday, August 10.

A spokeswoman for the Special Narcotics Prosecutor of the City of New York said Mr. Mercedes’ case is unrelated to the May 28 bust.

2. Robbery by reservoir

A 43-year-old exiting his car after parking by the intersection of Claflin Avenue and Reservoir Avenue was robbed by four assailants at 1:15 a.m. on Saturday, police said.

The first perpetrator displayed a knife, according to police. Three more perpetrators pushed the 43-year-old to the ground and searched his pockets to find his wallet.

The robbers took $100 and a Chase bank card from the man, police said. The first perpetrator was described as 5-foot-9 and 150 pounds. The other assailants were all described as about 6 feet tall.

The robbery case remains open to detectives.

3. Roadside assault

Police said that a 34-year-old woman was arrested at the intersection of West 230th Street and Bailey Avenue for assault in the third degree at 12:32 p.m. on June 5, according to authorities.

After a man of unidentified age stopped to yield to a fire truck passing through the intersection, the 34-year-old exited her vehicle to argue with him.
She then punched him, “causing substantial pain and redness on his face.”

The felony assault case is closed to an arrest.

4. Motorcycle stolen

A motorcycle valued at $9,500 was stolen by the intersection of Spencer Avenue and West 261st Street between 6 p.m. on June 2 and 1:30 p.m. on June 3, police said.

The victim, 30, parked the vehicle by the intersection and secured it with a chain to a nearby street sign on June 2. When he returned on June 3, the sign was “torn down,” police said, and the white and blue 2014 Suzuki GSX-R series motorcycle was found to be missing.

Police closed the grand larceny auto case after placing the vehicle’s information on an interstate stolen vehicles registry. They said there are no cameras at the location of the theft.

5. Petit larceny

A 37-year-old attempted to shoplift a toaster, a wine corkscrew and a can opener from the DEAL$ discount store at 5687 Broadway at 2:50 p.m. on June 4, police said.

The 37-year-old collected the items totaling $60 and “proceeded past the cash register without paying,” a community affairs spokesman for the 50th Precinct said.

The man was apprehended by security personnel at the store and later arrested by police. The petit larceny case is closed to an arrest, police said.
