JFK wins to retain Bronx River Cup

The John F. Kennedy (JFK) Knights defeated cross-town rival Herbert H. Lehman 44-20 on Saturday at Adlai Stevenson High School to retain control of the coveted “Bronx River Cup.” JFK improved to 4-3 while the Lions dropped to 3-4.
JFK senior Demetrius Wade, who is among the PSAL rushing yard leaders, scored a career high four touchdowns on the ground while senior quarterback Anthony Cruz passed for 209 yards, threw for two touchdowns, ran for another and intercepted a pass on defense.
JFK will host Canarsie High School Friday, Oct. 25, at its home coming game.
Govs lose, 20-14
The DeWitt Clinton Governors lost Saturday 20-14 to Boys & Girls High School in Brooklyn. Clinton is 4-3 and still in the City Conference playoff hunt. The Governors square off Saturday, Oct. 26 at Sheepshead Bay High School.
Clinton’s sophomore quarterback Brandon Harris is 17th in the PSAL with 505 rushing yards.
Lions vanquish DE
In private school action, Horace Mann defeated Dwight-Englewood 43-6 on the road. The Lions improved their record to 4-1.
Battle of the birds
The Riverdale Country School Falcons (3-3) defeated the Fieldston Eagles 13-7. Fieldson is now 4-2.
The Lions will host Riverdale Country School on Oct. 26 and play at Fieldston on Nov. 2.
