Join in ending neighbors’ hunger

Posted

To the Editor:

Thank you for so strongly bringing to our attention the unsettling reality of hunger in our own back yard. I have started a food drive in my building, and I encourage others to do the same. It can be so easy and effective If one person in each apartment building posts a notice or puts flyers under their neighbors doors and designates themselves to be the drop off point for boxed and canned foods only.

Imagine how many food donations Riverdale alone can amass in a short amount of time. They simply need to then contact the Kingsbridge Riverdale Marble Hill Food and Hunger Project to arrange a time to drop them off. And, as was stressed in your article, this is not a seasonal or holiday time issue — it is, unfortunately, year round. We as a community need to pay attention and address this ever growing problem.
