Koppell defends his appointees

To the Editor:

In her letter to The Riverdale Press, Ms. Xena Ramirez questioned my appointments to the Community Board. 

I am very proud of the Community Board members I had the power to nominate as a City Council Member, as well as the staff I hired in my tenure as a New York state Assemblyman, as New York Attorney General, and as a City Council Member. 

The diversity of the Community Board members I appointed and of the staff that I hired reflects the wide diversity of our community in their racial, religious and ethnic identities. To suggest otherwise is simply false.
