Mailman Robbed

A postal worker told police he was attacked and robbed at around 12:30 p.m. on Monday, at 3304 Giles Place.

The mailman, who operates out of the post office at 5517 Broadway, said a man approached him from behind and covered his mouth, before wrestling him to the ground. A second man then approached and removed a set of approximately 20 keys from the victim’s belt loop, police said.

The victim told police that while he was on the ground, he noticed two other men removing mail from his cart.

Police said the victim did not report any injuries and did not notice any weapons.
The victim said all four suspects were wearing dark green jackets.
The case remains open.

 

Arrest in gunpoint theft

A 14-year-old boy told police that he and his friend were robbed at around 7 p.m. on Jan. 23, near the northeast corner of West 231st Street and Godwin Terrace.

Two men approached the victims from behind, grabbed them, displayed a gun and demanded that the victims turn over their valuables, police said.

The thieves made off with a BlackBerry cell phone, worth $500, and headphones, worth $200.

Police said the victim called 9-1-1 and helped cops canvass the area for his attackers.

A 20-year-old male, who had previously been arrested for criminal trespassing, was cuffed and charged with robbery.



Victim escapes

A 15-year-old boy told police that at 8 p.m. on Jan. 28, he was attacked near the intersection of Henry Hudson Parkway and West 239th Street.

The victim said as he walked toward West 239th Street, three men followed him for about four blocks before cornering him. Then, one of the robbers said, “Give me your phone and everything you got,” according to police.

The victim said a scuffle ensued, in which he punched a suspect and, in return, was punched in the face himself. Ultimately, the victim escaped into a nearby building and the would-be robbers fled, police said.

The case remains open.

 


Auto strippers busted

A 42-year-old woman told police that two suspects broke into her car at around 1 p.m. on Jan. 24, near the northeast corner of Bailey Avenue and West Kingsbridge Road.
