Police say they arrested a male nurse at Manhattanville Rehabilitation & Health Care Center for raping an elderly resident in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

After another nurse allegedly observed Nanic Aidasani, 42, raping a 64-year-old woman, other staff members held the suspect down until police from the 50th precinct arrived at 311 W. 231st St., according to the NYPD’s Office of Public Information.

The victim was reported as being in stable condition after being taken to an area hospital. Mr. Aidasani, of Yonkers, was in police custody as of press time.

Lohud.com reported that Mr. Aidasani was awaiting arraignment Tuesday night in Bronx Supreme Criminal Court, where he was expected to be charged with second-degree rape, a felony filed against someone believed to have raped someone incapable of giving consent.

Deputy Inspector Paul Rasa, the commanding officer of the 50th precinct, said he believed the employee had been working at the health care center for about a year.

“Obviously, this type of behavior is inappropriate and shocking to everybody,” Deputy Inspector Rasa added.

Manhattanville Rehabilitation & Health Care Center is located at 311 West 231st St. in Kingsbridge.
