Marble Hill chase

1. On July 11 at 5 p.m., officers responded to reports of a gun sighting at 5210 Broadway. When they arrived at the scene, they found a 20-year-old man with a gun who fled into the Marble Hill Houses when he was ordered to stop. 

Officers pursued the perpetrator through heavy traffic on Broadway until they lost sight of him, but another officer, hearing a description over the patrol radio, saw a man fitting the description, stopped him and positively identified him as the fleeing perpetrator. The man was not a resident of the Marble Hill Houses. 

He was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment. 

2. Truck burglary 

A delivery truck driver from Crib and Teen City parked his vehicle in front of 2600 Netherland Ave. on July 10 at 3:30 p.m., leaving it unlocked. When the 32-year-old man returned to his truck, he discovered $800 in cash underneath the front passenger side visor had been removed. 

One camera outside the building may have caught the perpetrator on tape. The burglary case is open to detectives. 

3. Reckless endangerment

Police said on July 11 around 9:35 p.m., two males exchanged gunfire outside 2703 Webb Ave. Witnesses said they saw one man run north on the avenue, while the second ran south. 

Officers recovered four shell casings and one fired bullet from the scene. A canvass of local hospitals did not turn up either of the suspects, one of whom was believed to be injured.

The incident is under investigation. 

4. Tools taken

A man whose age was unknown to police reported that at 10 p.m. on July 13, he discovered an unknown perpetrator had broken into his apartment at 2731 Kingsbridge Terrace by breaking the screen door and unlocking it from the inside. 

The suspect absconded with an industrial grinder valued at $400, a $140 saw, a $160 circular saw, a $300 tool kit, a $700 shop saw, a $500 table saw and two other tools valued at $210 total. 

Police are investigating the burglary. 

5. Truck burglary #2 

Police said a 46-year-old man parked his 2008 truck in front of 3340 Fort Independence St. on July 12 at 2 p.m. while carrying out construction work. 

When he returned, he discovered his $400 cell phone, $300 North Face backpack and a credit card had been taken.

The burglary is open to detectives.
