Movie club meets at college

Give a thumbs up or down to movies you’ve seen, then explain why, at the Spuyten Duyvil Library’s “Movie Talk” discussion group, led by movie enthusiast and Riverdale Press writer Valerie Kaufman.

She said, “Hear what other Riverdalians think. Learn things you didn’t know. For example, did you know that the top three movie bestsellers ever were ‘Avatar’ (which grossed $761 million at U.S. box offices), ‘Titanic’ ($659 million) and ‘The Avengers’ ($623 million)? Or that the top three films to win the most Oscars (each won 11 Oscars) were: ‘Ben-Hur’ (1959), ‘Titanic’ (1997) and ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)?’

The next two meetings are scheduled for Saturday, May 14 and Saturday, June 11 at 11 a.m. at the Spuyten Duyvil Library, located at 650 W. 250th St.
