McDonald was stuck in precinct elevator for nearly an hour

Seven McDonald, a well-known retired NYPD detective who was paralyzed after being shot by a teenager in 1986, got stuck in a 50th Precinct elevator for close to an hour Wednesday afternoon.
After Mr. Mcdonald gave an inspirational speech to the warrant squad at 1 p.m., Deputy Inspector Kevin Burke said Mr. McDonald, his nurse, a doctor and a detective were stranded in an elevator traveling down from the third floor. Everyone emerged safely.
"It's very stressful to be stuck in an elevator, that's for sure. But he didn't require medical assistance at all. He's OK," said Deputy Inspector Burke, who commands the 50th Precinct.
