Midnight crash in Fieldston

A pre-dawn car crash on June 16 knocked over a pole in Fieldston, rattling residents there.

Fieldston resident Elizabeth Pimentel said she and her husband Michael Holoszyc were awoken by a loud bang coming from the circular road at West 246th Street and Fieldston Road at about 12:30 a.m. that night.

When Mr. Holoszyc ran out to see the commotion, he saw a damaged Audi on their lawn and part of Fieldston Road’s sidewalk. He ran back inside to get dressed, but by the time he returned, the car had fled the scene.

“His car was in pieces. He left all kinds of damage when he left,” Ms. Pimentel said. “By the time my husband looked, the pole was all bent and wires were hanging off the side and all that.”

A reporter later observed skid marks in the shape of large circles on the streets near the scene of the accident, indicating the driver may have been doing donuts there.

Police said that the case is still under investigation and a representative of the Fieldston Property Owners Association declined to comment for this story.
