CHRIST CHURCH Riverdale, located at 5030 Henry Hudson Parkway East, will open its 2009-2010 “Great Music Concert Series,” with a live show on Saturday, Nov. 14, at 7:30 p.m. For this event, talented violinist Kensho Watanabe will present an evening of violin masterworks. In addition, Mr. Watanabe will be joined by members of his quartet for a special performance of selected violin duos, as well as a string quartet piece written by Joseph Haydn. LEHMAN COLLEGE, located at 250 Bedford Park Boulevard West, will host the inaugural concert of the Four Seasons Symphony Orchestra, on Sunday, Nov. 15, at 2 p.m., in the Lovinger Theatre. This new ensemble was created with the specific purpose of bringing classical music to the Bronx and hopes to help broaden local interest in this medium. Under the direction of maestro Gregory Singer, this group of professional soloists and performers will present a selection of works by Mozart, Brahms, Gershwin, Sibelius, Singer, Copland and Strauss, as well as a special medley of American favorites. In addition, soloist Olga Vinokur will perform “Rhapsody in Blue” on the new Steinway Grand Piano.
