Dog kindergarten

Divine K-9 Dog Training & Behavior Counseling presents “Puppy Kindergarten,” a sevensession course at Riverdale Veterinary Group, 3607 Riverdale Ave., starting Monday, June 8 at 7 p.m.

Sessions will take place on Mondays. Each session is one hour long and all puppies eight weeks to five months old are welcome. Classes are limited to 5 puppies.

The curriculum gives tips on socialization, household manners, housetraining, nutrition and health, crate training, nipping and biting. The class introduces manners, impulse control and obedience, including: sit, down, name recognition and come.

Another seven-session course, “A Well-Mannered Dog is a Happy Dog,” will be offered at the Riverdale-Yonkers Society for Ethical Culture, 4450 Fieldston Road, starting Tuesday, May 19, at 8:15 p.m. The class is limited to seven dogs and is open to dogs six months and older.

The co-owners of Divine K-9, Inc., Jorge Melara and Bobbie Bhambree, are Certified Pet Dog Trainers (CPDT) and members of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers.

Sunday brunch

Wave Hill, located at West 249th Street and Independence Avenue, hosts a Sunday brunch each Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Wave Hill House.

The brunch costs $22 per person, not including admission to the grounds, and features organic produce from Katchkie Farm, a project of Wave Hill’s exclusive caterer, Great Performances.

Reservations must be made by 4 p.m. on the Friday before each brunch.

River shots

The Hebrew Home at Riverdale, 5901 Palisade Ave., is displaying an exhibition of more than 20 photographs of iconic sites along the Hudson River through Sunday, Sep. 13.

Called “Icons of the Hudson: Portrait of a River,” the collection of photographs by Joseph Squillante honors of the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson’s discovery of the eponmous river.

The exhibition is free and open to the public from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily.
