A. Broadway beating

Police said that a 59-year-old man with two prior offenses was arrested and charged with assault on Sunday at 10:50 p.m. at the northwest corner of Broadway and West 242nd Street. 

According to police, after a dispute with a 36-year-old man, the suspect exited his car, walked toward the victim’s vehicle and shouted expletives before telling the man to “Get out of the car.” Police said that the man then opened the victim’s driver’s side door and hauled him out of the car, pushing him towards the ground while shouting obscenities. 

The assailant punched the 36-year-old man multiple times in the face, which shattered the glass lenses of the victim’s eyeglasses, according to police.

The victim suffered a cut under his right eye and cuts on his right hand, neck and back, among other gashes. He was treated at a local Yonkers hospital, police said.

Police did not state whether the victim and his attacker knew each other or what the two men were arguing about before the assault.

According to the Bronx District Attorney’s office, the attacker was charged with assault in the third degree, criminal mischief in the fourth degree, menacing, harassment in the second degree and disorderly conduct. 

He pled not guilty and was released on his own recognizance. He is due back in court on Tuesday, Dec. 16.

B. Asleep at the wheel

Police said that a 24-year-old man was arrested on Oct. 18 at around 6:40 a.m. on the northwest corner of Riverdale Avenue and West 230th Street.

According to police, the man was observed sleeping in a 1998 Honda Sedan at a traffic light with the keys in the ignition and the engine running. 

Police said that when the light turned from red to green, the vehicle did not move. 

When police woke the man up, they smelled a strong odor of alcohol and noticed that he had watery eyes and a flushed face.

According to police, the man was charged with a DWI.  

C. Punched for cellphone

An 18-year-old man was robbed at West 230th Street and West Kingsbridge Avenue on Oct. 15 at 10:20 p.m.

According to police, a 19-year-old attacker with a beige doo-rag approached the man from behind.
