Ready for Clinton in November

To the editor,

We would like to thank the community for coming out in large numbers to vote in the Democratic presidential primary and for voting to elect us as delegates to the Democratic National Convention. While we strongly support Hillary, we know many people in our community who voted for Bernie and who also voted for us as delegates. We appreciate everyone’s vote.

We believe that Hillary Clinton is extraordinarily qualified and will make a great president. She has been fighting for decades to make peoples’ lives better. Bernie Sanders, while not a Democrat, has stood with Democrats on so many important issues. 

Well over 16,000 people voted in the Democratic primary in our assembly district, and Hillary received 63 percent of the vote. While we are thrilled that she won our district by 26 points, we recognize that Bernie received votes from thousands of committed Democrats.

The Democratic contest has, for the most part, been a discussion of issues in stark contrast to the Republican circus. While the disagreements have grown stronger in recent weeks, most reasonable people would agree that once the primaries have concluded and the Democratic convention makes a choice, we must unite behind that candidate and work hard to win in November, for the sake of our country.
