1. A 53-year-old woman was walking toward Bailey Avenue on West 233rd Street at 2:25 p.m. on April 14 when an unknown man moved up behind her, shoved her to the ground and tore away her brown purse, police said.

The purse contained a cell phone and a Chase Bank credit card, among other items, but a report did not specify the value of the items stolen.

The robbery case remains open to detectives.

2. Teen jumped by park

When a 19-year-old male saw three men coming at him at the corner of Riverdale Avenue and West 232nd Street at 10:50 p.m. on April 15, he quickly dropped the phone he was holding into his pocket, according to police

But the first of the perpetrators grabbed him and reached into the pocket after the phone. The second suspect punched the 19-year-old in the face. Together with the third perpetrator, they took off into the night with the 19-year-old’s $500 iPhone 6.

The case remains open to detectives. Crime statistics for Ewen Park and the surrounding intersection were not immediately available, police said.

3. Motorbike stolen

Police said after a 31-year-old male parked his black 2012 Yamaha YZF-R1 at West 252nd Street and Broadway between 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on April 13, he returned to find the vehicle missing at 11:30 a.m. on April 15.

A canvas of the area turned up no leads. After determining that the vehicle was not towed, police closed the case. The Yamaha has been placed on an interstate stolen vehicles registry.

4. Petit larceny at T.J. Maxx

A fragrance thief was apprehended at the T.J. Maxx at 171 W. 230th St. on April 18, police said.

At 2:30 p.m., a store employee observed the 21-year-old man “removing items from the store shelf and placing them in his backpack.”

The four bottles of stolen fragrance were valued at a total of $62.

The 21-year-old was arrested and charged with petit larceny. He has two prior arrests for damaging property, police said.

5. Car break-in

Police said at 6:55 p.m. on April 14, a 44-year-old woman found the passenger side window of her gray 2012 Toyota Corolla at 3871 Sedgwick Ave. “destroyed.”

Electronics including an Apple iPhone 5c worth $300, a Sprint mobile WiFi hotspot worth $300 and an Amazon Kindle worth $100 were missing.

Because the value of the goods only cleared the threshold for a petit larceny, police closed the case. They could not confirm a spree of break-ins in the neighborhood, but the The Press reported another petit larceny at the corner of 238th and Sedgwick Ave.
