Serial burglar cuffed

1. On Dec. 26 at 1:30 p.m., police responded to a call about a burglary in progress at 648 W. 227th St. and discovered a 46-year-old man standing in the backyard. 

The reporting witness said the man was attempting to remove an air conditioner to gain entry, but the suspect claimed he was hired to work on the air conditioning system in the house. 

When the officer contacted the homeowner, the person stated he had not given anyone permission to work on or enter the house. 

Police arrested the man and charged him with burglary. While in custody, he confessed to several other burglaries in the area, which are under investigation. 

2. Rob and run

Police said a 21-year-old man was walking through the lobby at 1 Marble Hill Ave. around 1 a.m. on Saturday when two unknown males approached him. 

After one of the men displayed a black handgun, the two men fled with the victim’s iPhone 5, valued at $600, a Chase debit card, a New York State ID and $20 in cash.

The robbery is under investigation. 

3. Lack of Accord

Authorities said a 35-year-old woman parked her green 1996 Honda Accord in front of 2056 Kingsbridge Ave. in a legal parking spot on Dec. 26 around 10 p.m.

When she returned to the spot the next morning at 10 a.m., she discovered the car, valued at $2,000, was missing.

There was no broken glass in the area around the parking spot. The grand larceny auto case is open to detectives.

4. Stop & Steal

On Dec. 23, a 36-year-old woman parked her car in front of the Stop & Shop at 5716 Broadway and entered the store, clicking the lock button on her car key as she walked inside. 

When she left the store and re-entered her vehicle, she discovered her purse, credit card, driver’s license, college ID, books and another car key, valued at $200, were missing. 

The grand larceny case is under investigation. 

5. Metal menacing 

At 1:20 a.m. on Dec. 27, a 30-year-old man was standing in front of a bodega at 231 W. 231st St. when a 35-year-old woman approached him, trying to hit him with a metal object. 

Police broke up the altercation, and the victim escaped without injury. 

The woman was arrested and charged with menacing.
