Mount goes dancing

For the first time in school history, the Dolphins will be going to the Division III NCAA tournament. Mount Saint Vincent knocked off Farmingdale, 76-50, after falling to them twice during the season. Senior Kelly Fraser was named the tournament’s most outstanding player after scoring 23 points in the championship.  

Poly Prep 50, HM 38 

After winning seven of its last eight, Horace Mann’s streak came to an end in the quarterfinals of the New York State Association of Independent Schools semifinals. The Lions will return most of its team next year, including star freshman Jordan Nixon. She was a nightmare for opposing teams all season. 

Midwood 59, JFK 40

Midwood’s Kyla Formey scored 21 points and Alexandra Moogan added 20 more as Midwood knocked the John F. Kennedy campus out of the top bracket in the PSAL playoffs.

Clinton 50, Hunter 35

Clinton’s Chrisoula Motameed led the way with 18 points and Isabel Corpus tacked on 13 more as Clinton was set to move against second-seeded McKee/Staten Island Tech on Wednesday, March 4 in the third round of the mid-level bracket.

Science 44, McKee 63

A dominating third quarter by McKee/Staten Island Tech would knock the Bronx High School of Science out of the mid-level playoff bracket. Bronx Science had no answer for sophomore Clare Mitchell, who scored 29 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
