Poets House

Poets House presents “Writing the Hudson River,” a panel discussion and reading in honor of the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson’s voyage to New York starting at 1 p.m. at Wave Hill, 249th Street and Independence Avenue.

Poets Nancy Willard and Mark Wunderlich and scholars Judith Richardson and Wayne Franklin will explore the cultural and environmental tributaries that have flowed through the literature of the Hudson River Valley, from Native American poetic traditions to the urban pastoral poetry of John Ashbery. Admission costs $6, and is waived for Poets House and Wave Hill Members.

Co-op tour

Sam and Isalene Goldman will lead a tour of the former workers’ cooperative known as the Allerton Co-ops as a follow- up to the May screening of At Home in Utopia by Michal Goldman and Ellen Brodsky.

The program will begin at 11 a.m. with a discussion of the documentary, including comments on the subject not included in the film. The tour will begin at noon. Participants can have lunch at the Skyclub Cafe and may then swim at the Skyclub pool at 1 p.m.

Preregistration is required.

The tour costs $20; with transportation, lunch and swimming, the fee is $50.

Checks should be made payable to The Riverdale-Yonkers Society For Ethical Culture and sent to the society, at 4445 Fieldston Road. Checks are nonrefundable.
