Christina Collado, a member of the Church of the Visitation’s Girl Scouts Cadette Troop 1134, received a Marian Medal at a special Emblem Mass at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral on Sunday.

She was the only scout in the greater New York area honored for completing a program designed to bring Girl Scouts closer to God by teaching them about Mary’s life.

Christina, 12, of Van Cortlandt Village, has completed several Girl Scout programs related to her faith and received two other religious awards –– the Family of God and the I Live My Faith awards.

She is currently working toward the highest award a Cadette can earn, the Silver Award, according to Thelma Collado, Christina’s mom and the Cadette Troop 1134 leader.
