Posted

The judges of the Purple Dragonfly Book Awards contest, which recognizes excellence in children's literature, have spoken, and Adopting Ginger, written by retired P.S.81 teacher Linda Griffin, won second place in the pet/animal category. Ms. Griffin taught at P.S. 81 for more than thirty years.

"Winning any place in the Purple Dragonfly contest is a huge honor.....Competition is steep,'" explains Linda Radke, president of Five Star Publications.

Adopting Ginger is a "delightful story" about compassion, cooperation and responsibility. "Readers follow the joys and struggles of 10-year-old Emma and her family as they make a decision to adopt a pet, visit and animal shelter to choose a pet just right for them, and help an apprehensive new dog feel like part of the family." (Kind News, Oct/Nov.2013, a publication of The Humane Society of The United States) Adopting Ginger retails for $10.95 and can be purchased on amazon.com or barnesandnoble.com.
