All supply and demand

I was delighted to see your editorial, though disappointed (not surprised) by the city council vote.

I was especially gratified by your understanding that “the market will correct itself,” and that the law of supply and demand makes for a more effective regulation than artificial government dictates.

I hope you will continue to champion this view, which unfortunately is under attack from both sides of the political spectrum. On the left, the avowed socialist views of some leading, and wannabe leading, Democratic candidates. On the right, the craven acquiescence to the president’s tariffs, which cause a huge distortion of the free markets, not least because they constitute a huge tax that we all end up paying.
