1. Police arrested a man carrying 115 small envelopes containing heroin at the intersection of West 225th Street and Exterior Street on April 1 at 9:30 p.m.

The man, 47, was arrested and charged with dual felonies of possession and intent to sell narcotics. Police said that the man, who is 5-foot-10 and weighs about 300 pounds, was “one of our known guys.” They added that he was last arrested on Feb. 18 for possession of a smaller quantity of heroin and marijuana near the same area.

2. Teen thief strikes Starbucks again

A local teen reportedly caught in the act during at least two neighborhood stealing sprees in February was at it again on March 30 at the Starbucks on Johnson Avenue, police said.

William Muller, 16, walked into the Starbucks at 1:45 p.m. that day and seated himself directly behind a 52-year-old woman, who placed her purse on the floor immediately next to her foot, according to a criminal complaint. Several minutes later, the woman observed William leave his seat in a “quick and hasty manner.”

When she looked in her purse, she found her wallet missing. It contained a credit card, a $75 gift card, an ID card, a $20 Metro Card, and $2 in change. Police quickly apprehended William outside as he attempted to flee.

Police valued the stolen goods at $182 in all, but William is automatically charged with grand larceny for the theft of a credit card.

He was last arrested on Feb. 27 outside the Blackstone Bar & Grill at 3713 Riverdale Ave. for stealing a pack of Marlboro lights from a bartender’s purse, a petit larceny. In the same week, he attempted larceny at An Beal Bocht during a benefit concert. William was arraigned on four other larcenies, including three larcenies committed at the same Starbucks restaurant, on Feb. 4.

William is a student at the David A. Stein Riverdale/Kingsbridge Academy (M.S./H.S. 141).

3. “Do you know me?”

Police said while walking down Broadway near the intersection with 234th Street at 1:15 a.m. Easter morning, a 59-year-old man was accosted by three 15-year-old youths.

“Excuse me, sire, do you know me?” called the first 15-year-old, described as white and wearing a black vest and black jeans. As the 59-year-old turned to respond, the 15-year-old landed a hook to the older man’s left eye. The second and third 15-year-olds then joined in, kicking and beating the man. They were described only as dark-skinned. Police said the victim was not robbed.

Emergency personnel called to the scene evacuated the man to the Allen Pavilion with a swollen eye and other non-critical injuries, but no arrests were made. The assault case remains open to detectives.

4. Firearm brandished

Police said that at 2:50 p.m. on April 1, a 26-year-old dialed up a friend to chat while waiting in a long line at the Walgreens at 5564 Broadway. But his conversation did not amuse the heavyset man behind him. After arguing with the 26-year-old about his cell phone use, the man flashed a firearm stored on the left side of his waist.

Moments later, the suspect left the building. Police said that detectives will use the store’s video surveillance to identify the man. He is wanted for menacing with weapons.

5. Grand larceny auto

A 35-year-old parked his red van across the street from the Amsterdam Supply Co. at 11 p.m. on March 31, according to police. When he returned to the 3438 Bailey Ave. site at 8 a.m. the next morning, the 2004 Chevy Express was missing.

No broken glass was found at the site. Police cruised the neighborhood surrounding the Kingsbridge address to check that the 35-year-old had not misplaced the vehicle. They also conducted a search to confirm that the van was not towed.

The grand larceny auto case is open to detectives, who will seek to use any video surveillance near the scene of the crime, and the van has been placed on an interstate stolen vehicles registry.

6. Cameras, MacBook stolen

An unidentified burglar stole a laptop and other goods valued at $2,340 from a residence at 114 W. 238th St. some time between the afternoon of April 2 and just after midnight the following morning.

After a 51-year-old man left for work around 1 p.m., he came back hours later to find the door forced open. Inside, his Apple MacBook worth $1700, a Sony camera worth $350, two camera lenses worth $320, a Minolta camera worth $60 and assorted foreign coins worth $10 were missing.

The case is still open to detectives.
