Police Beat

Another deliveryman robbed near Vannie

Posted

For the third time in a month, robbers have targeted someone making a food delivery around the Van Cortlandt Village section of the 50th precinct.

This time, the victim, 47, was riding an electric bike in front of 3051 Sedgwick Ave., when two others pushed him to the ground.

The suspects, described as men about 20 years old, reportedly grabbed the bike, police said, and rode away north on Sedgwick.

Last week another electric bike was stolen in almost the same way when two suspects robbed a deliveryman on Albany Crescent. Last March, a deliveryman delivered food to an empty house on Heath Avenue when two men attacked him and stole his wallet along with $80.

And another bike rider robbed, too

One more cyclist was robbed last week, according to police, only blocks away from the first on Sedgwick Avenue.

The 40-year-old victim was riding his bike around the corner of Sedgwick and Reservoir avenues when two men approached him, police said, and demanded he hand over his bike.

The victim reportedly told police he feared his assailants were armed, so he got off and handed them his mountain bike, which police valued at $1,480.

This case is under investigation.

Two break-ins on Reservoir Avenue

Thieves targeted two cars on Reservoir Avenue last week, police said, adding to a spur of crimes in Van Cortlandt Village.

The first incident happened April 11 when a man returned to his car after parking it overnight and found it sitting on blocks.

Thieves had stolen the tires from his 2015 Honda Accord, police said, from where it was parked on the corner of Reservoir and Goulden avenues.

A few blocks away, thieves smashed the rear window of a 2011 Toyota Corolla, police said, after the victim left her car there for just 20 minutes.

The victim parked on Reservoir near Webb Avenue at 9:30 a.m., according to police. By the time she came back at 9:50, someone had broken in and made off with her Coach purse.

Both cases are still under investigation.
