It’s never too late have your bar or bat mitzvah ceremony.

Brother and sister Marc and Laureen Aruty, members of the Hebrew Institute of Riverdale, celebrated their spiritual milestone Aug. 20. At 61 and 59 respectively, the institute formally recognize the two as part its family community.

The two traveled from their home on Bailey Avenue to take part in the Bayit’s programming like dinners and lectures.

“It’s really nice to come here,” said Marc Aruty, who first attended events at the Bayit, 3700 Henry Hudson Parkway, in 1984.

Laureen said she made friends over the years and looked forward to celebrating her bat mitzvah at the Bayit surrounded by those very friends.
