1. At 12:05 a.m. on May 12, a 23-year-old waiting for a bus at 2897 Sedgwick Ave. was approached by three young men wearing dark clothing, police said.

“Don’t fight,” one of the young men told the 23-year-old, according to authorities. “Hand over your money.”

The victim did as he was told, handing over his $500 Samsung Galaxy phone and his wallet, which reportedly contained $300 in cash and two credit cards. The 23-year-old told police that he saw the three young men then run southbound on Sedgwick Avenue.

The victim reportedly suffered minor lacerations to his left hand during the crime and was treated by emergency personnel who arrived at the scene.

The robbery case remains open to detectives.

2. Argument leads to assault

An argument between two 17-year-olds at 2675 Henry Hudson Parkway turned violent at 1:20 p.m. on May 13, police said.

After a verbal dispute, one of the teens threw a punch at the other, “causing swelling to his face and his eye,” according to a police report.

“There are cameras on the side of the building, but none with a clear view of where the incident occurred,” a community affairs spokesman for the 50th said. The perpetrator was known to the victim, so police will first attempt to track down that individual by name, the spokesman added.

The felony assault case remains open to detectives.

3. Con Ed truck burglarized

Police said a 34-year-old Con Edison employee who parked a company truck at 3530 Henry Hudson Parkway at 5:30 p.m. on May 12 returned to discover $2,750 in tools stolen from the truck at 6:05 a.m. the following day.

A burglar shattered the truck’s year window and took a transformer tester worth $420, a wall grinder worth $150, gloves worth $25, and $2,155 in other tools and goods, police said.

There are no suspects and no leads yet, police said. The case is still open to detectives.

4. Scam claims new victim

An elderly Kingsbridge resident became the most recent victim of a pernicious scam on May 14, coughing up $1,500 to con artists, police said.

The 91-year-old received a call at her 3411 Irwin Ave. residence at 12 p.m. from a man impersonating her son, who said he had been in a car accident and needed $4,000 to secure his freedom from the police, who planned to detain him.

While the victim was still stunned, the impersonator handed the phone to an accomplice, who explained that, as a lawyer, he could obtain her son’s release for $1,500, if she went immediately to the nearest convenience store and gave him the access codes for iTunes cards worth the sum he requested.

The 91-year-old was distraught, police said, and did as she was told. Only after paying up did she realize she had been the victim of a scam.

The grand larceny case remains open to detectives. The scam was last covered in these pages in February, but police said numerous people have fallen victim since.

5. Landlord targeted

Police said a former tenant of 2820 University Ave. is suspected of clipping his old landlord’s television and broadband cables at the same building between 11 and 11:20 p.m. on May 15.

After noticing that his service had been cut, the landlord, 52, looked outside and saw the former tenant, 47, by the wires in question. The suspect then bolted out of the fence he had apparently entered through.

“He hasn’t been arrested yet,” said a community affairs spokesman for the 50th. “Check back in a week or two.”

The criminal mischief case remains open to detectives.
