1. Trio robs jogger

Police said at 2:20 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, three teens robbed a 50-year-old male jogger at the corner of Bailey Avenue and Van Cortlandt Park West. 

The victim told police that one of the robbers, all 17-year-old males, held him down while a second threatened him with a knife and the third reached for his wallet and other valuables. 

The robbers took the victim’s cell phone, along with his phone case, which doubled as a wallet. The total value of the stolen goods was placed at $920. 

This case is still open to detectives.

2. One Civic stolen…

Authorities said sometime between 10 p.m. on Dec. 30 and 8 a.m. the next day, a green 1998 Honda Civic sedan was stolen from in front of 5731 Post Road. 

The victim, a 76-year old woman, said she parked the car in front of the home and when she looked out her window on New Year’s Eve, the car was gone. 

The vehicle and its contents were valued at $2,330 and the case is currently closed to arrests.

3. …then another

Police said a 1993 Honda Civic was stolen from the corner of Fairfield Avenue and West 232nd Street on Dec. 30 around 11:20 a.m.

The victim, a 60-year old man, said that when he looked for his parked car, he found it had been taken and that none of the local tow companies had it. 

Police said there were no cameras in the area, and that the case is currently closed to investigators.

4. New Year’s DUI

Police said a drunk driver crashed into another vehicle on the corner of Heath Avenue and West Kingsbridge Road at midnight on Dec. 31.

The victim, 29, told police that the defendant, a 70-year old man, drove his 1998 Toyota Corolla into the victim’s car. According to police, the perpetrator then got out of his vehicle and tried to flee the scene on foot before being apprehended by police. 

When authorities caught him, they took him to the 45th Precinct, where they conducted Breathalyzer tests, which put the defendant’s blood-alcohol level at 0.133.

He was arrested on a DUI charge and the case is closed to detectives.

5. Another tire theft

The ongoing streak of tire-and-rim thefts continued sometime between 5 p.m. on Dec. 30 and 10:20 a.m. on New Year’s Eve, according to police.

They said the items were stolen off a 2015 Toyota while it was parked opposite 3531 Johnson Ave.

The value of the tires and rims was placed at $2,400 and the case remains open to detectives.
