Posted

The owner of a local jewelry store was shot Saturday after what police described as a robbery gone bad.

Two men in their 20s walked into Marilyn's Diamond Collection at 3261 Johnson Ave., right around noon, holding a gun and demanding money.

The owner struggled with one of the men, according to the New York Police Department, and was shot once in the chest. The robbers then drove off in a tan Ford Explorer.

Police would not identify the owner who was shot, but The Press has learned it's Chris Carruci Sr., who runs the store with his son.

Carruci was taken to Saint Barnabas Hospital on Third Avenue where he is listed in stable condition, according to police.

Marilyn's opened in 2007, according to its Yelp profile, specializing in jewelry and watchmaking.
