1. Man attacked, robbed
6241 Broadway
Bronx, NY
Two unidentified assailants attacked and robbed a 38-year-old man who was walking home past 6241 Broadway on July 21, police say. The alleged victim told police the assailants tackled him and held him to the ground by his neck. One of the suspects also held a gun to his back, according to his account, police said. Reaching into the man’s pockets, attackers took $340 worth of property before fleeing the scene in a white van with Florida plates, according to police. The victim told police he was unable to describe his attackers. The case is open to investigation.
2. Stolen car recovered
3626 Bailey Ave.
Bronx, NY
A car that was stolen in the northwest Bronx was recovered in Yonkers, police said. The 1998 Honda Civic was stolen from an on-street parking spot opposite 3626 Bailey Ave. some time between July 20 and July 22. Police found the car on a street in Yonkers. This case is closed.
3. Another Honda stolen
Fieldston Road and W. 253rd Street
Bronx, NY
A 61-year-old man’s car was stolen last weekend in north Riverdale, police said. The man told police he had parked his car on the corner of Fieldston Road and W. 253rd Street on July 21, but when he returned, the car was gone. A canvass of the area suggested the 1991 Honda Civic might not be far from where it had been stolen, but police could not locate the vehicle, they said. This case is closed to detectives.
4. Rims Stolen
Corner of Oxford and Johnson avenues
Bronx, NY
A woman who had parked her car on the corner of Oxford and Johnson avenues returned to the site to find that someone had stolen her tires, police said. The stolen rims and tires of the 2014 Honda Accord were worth an estimated $2,800, police said. The incident occurred some time between July 20 and July 21. This case is open to investigation.
5. Drunk driver nabbed in car crash
W. 231st Street and Albany Crescent
Bronx, NY
Police responding to the scene of a car crash on the W. 230th Street exit ramp from the Major Deegan Expressway arrested a man for driving drunk. Officers were responding to a 911 call from a man who said he was driving northbound in the left lane when another car swerved from the center lane and struck him, police said. The 29-year-old driver of the 2013 Toyota Scion blew a .23 blood alcohol level on scene, but refused a second Breathalyzer exam at a testing facility. This case is closed due to arrest.
