REMEMBERING 9/11

Ladder 52 remembers lives lost, 17 years later

Posted

On a gray Tuesday morning filled with intermittent rain, firefighters with Ladder 52 gathered for six moments of silence to honor the 343 New York City Fire Department members who died on Sept. 11, 2001.

Each moment of silence marks the four collisions — the twin towers of the World Trade Center in Manhattan, the Pentagon in Washington, and the field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania — as well as the collapse of both towers.

The reading of the names played on televisions inside the firehouse.
